WNBA Basketball: The Dynamic Experience of the Women’s Game

Watching an exciting WNBA game is a highly entertaining experience for basketball enthusiastic who love the woman’s game. For years, the display of talent, skills, performance, and execution on the basketball court has been a delight for years.

I have been a fan of the WNBA ever since its inception in 1996, staring Lisa Lesly of the LA Sparks and Rebecca Lobo of the New York Liberty.

Presently, the WNBA consisted of 12 teams, including

  • Minnesota Lynx (my team)
  • Washington Mystics
  • Dallas Wings
  • Los Angeles Sparks
  • Phoenix Mercury
  • Indiana Fever
  • Seattle Storm
  • New York Liberty
  • Connecticut Sun
  • Chicago Sky
  • Atlantic Dream
  • Las Vegas Ace

Each year I look forward to experiencing the WNBA Draft and the emerging greatness of each of the twelve teams. Over the years, outstanding rookies enter the program and take complete charge of the team.

Maya Moore, Candace Parker, Sue Bird, Diana Taurasi, Breanna Stewart, Sylvia Fowles, and Tina Charles make up some of the present mega stars of the league.

The goal of the league is to gain the same respect and popularity that the men’s game enjoys. That is the NBA.

Growth of the WNBA

Since its inception, the woman’s game has enjoyed tremendous growth. Because of new bargaining salaries have increased, viewership has grown by the tens of thousands, and highly notable sponsors have invested into the program, including ESPS.

According to ESPN, the WNBA viewership is up 63 percent form 2019, a tremendous jump during the when a pandemic is sweeping across the world.

Although the growth of the WNBA is no wear near on the scale of its counterpart, the NBA, the women’s game is poised to become more popular in the coming years and decades.

Dynamic, talented, and highly skilled ball handlers are dazzling fans with dramatic ball play, game ending shots, and sensational dunks, erasing the doubt that the women’s game is a boring.

As a basketball enthusiast, I like both men and women basketball. I can tell you, without a doubt, that both versions of the game are equally exciting and entertaining.

Some of the best basketball I have seen have been played by my Minnesota Lynx, a four-time WNBA champion in the state of Minnesota. A proven winner, Maya Moore came on the scene in 2011 and took over a team that had been losing for years. Fans were constantly disappointed when it came to the playoffs in which the Lynx never made nay impact.

However, when Maya Moore joined the team, the end of the Lynx losing streak was over, a streak that will never be repeated. The incoming talent is too dynamic for any team to be trapped in a decade losing streak, ever again.

WNBA: A Role Model for Young Girls

The WNBA is a program that not only promote women’s basketball. The program is also a powerful role model for young girls who want to live out their dreams as female basketball players or any other dream.

The woman of the WNBA teachers’ young girls to reach for their dreams and pursue their passions regardless of the difficulty involved. The display of hard work and positive values among the divas of basketball is a great motivation for all women.

The younger girls, women and even men, like myself, need to embrace the women’s game and promote it, the more popular the program will become in the United States.

Becoming an avid WNBA fan require an open mind. All the misconceptions regarding women’s sports must be put aside. The experience of watching the game and observing the display of exceptional talent will inspire skeptic viewers, especially men, to come to appreciate the women’s game.

I have watched the game. I have observed the tremendous skills and talents of these women. If I ever had any misconception about the WNBA, they are all gone now. I have watched the game. Now it is your turn.
